To mark the 100th anniversary of the death of Felix Ziem, the City of Beaune and the Ziem Committee is staging a major exhibition featuring more than 150 paintings and drawings taken from museums and private collections.
This exceptional event is a prime opportunity to discover a prolific artist, tireless traveller and great lover of the lights of the Mediterranean.
Ziem was the first living artist to have his work exhibited in the Louvre. The themes of his work were close to those of the Orientalists, though his technique had more in common with the Impressionists. The tribute to him in Beaune reveals the personality and duality of an artist who in his lifetime was hailed as one of the great masters of French landscape painting.
